Imjin River originated from Masikryeong, Hamgyeongnam Province runs 254km to the southeast and flows into Yellow Sea, then unifies with the Han River. It is famous because it was mentioned as a good site for the new capital in the age of the Joseon Dynasty.

In 2006 alone, total trade volume of Paju amounted to US$5,606 Million, with US$3,242 Million in exports and US$2,364 Million in imports.
