Paju City is important spot of transportation between the North and the South, which is located at the northwestern part of Gyeonggi Province. The Gyeongui railroad connects Seoul and Shinuiju, the 1st national road (Tongilro) connects Mokpo and Shinuiju, and Jayuro is extended to the North following Han River.

Notable mountains such as Gamak Mountain (675m in height), the vein of Gwangju Mountain Range are distributed on the eastern mountain. Imjin River originated from Masikryeong, Hamgyeongnam Province runs 254km to the southeast and flows into Yellow Sea, then unifies with the Han River. It is famous because it was mentioned as a good site for the new capital in the age of the Joseon Dynasty.

It is a blessed city that has abundant water resource and beautiful natural environment since the Han River and Imjin River meet here, and graceful mountains are well balanced. Also, the DMZ (Demilitarized zone) is a treasure-house of perfect ecological resources attracting the concerns of the world.

Paju is the only divided field in the world and the central city of the interchange between the South and the North. It plays a central function of economic interchange, reconciliation and cooperation between North and South Korea. It is also background city of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex. The world peace city where peace and reconciliation bloom is in actualization by using security resources.

Recently, Paju is newly born as the greatest Mecca of the LCD industry as LG Phillips LCD factory and the corporation complex are formed. With new opportunities for employment and increased consumption of local agricultural products, and with cooperation between large and small companies in a large-scale industrial complex, the local economy is being infused with vital energy. In 2006 alone, total trade volume of Paju amounted to US$5,606 Million, with US$3,242 Million in exports and US$2,364 Million in imports.

With current success, Paju is developed in harmony by keeping the heavenly-blessed natural environment. By forming an environmentally friendly city with the social basis facilities; it is intended to be a future-oriented city where development and preservation coexist.
